If all you picture when you think of braided rugs is musty rooms in your grandmother's house, prepare to rethink. It is true that the long tradition of braided rugs in America is mostly made up of predictable colors and shapes. But Colonial Mills Inc. in Rhode Island breaks the oval mold. With modern takes on the style, you may just have a new opinion of an old tradition. And every rug is made at their headquarters in Pawtucket, just down the street from Slater Mill, A National Historic Landmark and the first water-powered cotton spinning mill in North America.
